WAITING FOR THE SUNRISE

I loved doing this painting! On a recent trip to the Central Coast I was up at 5 a.m. (quick cup of coffee to get me going) and out on to the beach well before sunrise. I waited patiently for the sun to appear for about an hour or more. It was actually obliterated by a band of cloud to the East, but I made the most of that very special time of day.

What I hadn’t foreseen was the beauty of the pre-dawn at low tide. Well worth the early rise to view the ocean – as it often is. I love painting the natural environment with the many challenges it throws at an artist – getting up early being one of them! It is regenerating  to be with nature.
