I am so excited about my second Artist-in-Residence aboard the ECO ABROLHOS! Although I won’t actively be painting, I will be collecting reference material of an area I have long wanted to visit and paint. This is cruising the Abrolhos Group of Islands about 60km’s west of Geraldton. The magnificent but treacherous reefs in the area have claimed many shipwrecks – notably the Batavia in 1629. Peter Fitzsimmons book called Batavia is a great read for anyone interested.
The ECO ABROLHOS is the only company doing the Luxury Eco Liveaboard Cruises and offers something really exciting and beautiful-coral snorkeling, sea-life, glass bottom boat, bird watching, history and exploring some of the islands.
I feel so privileged to be part of this cruise. My desire to see the area has been strong since I read the book Batavia and viewed paintings of the Abrolhos islands. Now it is going to happen – OCTOBER1-5 2016 If you want to see more about this cruise visit www.ecoabrolhos.com.au
